Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A sudden bomb blast in the Shamsherganj area of Murshidabad has left two minors injured, sparking concern once again over the repeated discovery and explosion of crude bombs across the region. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the Uttar Mohammadpur area under Pratappur Gram Panchayat.
According to local sources, the two children were playing when the explosion occurred. It is believed that a crude bomb, possibly stored or discarded nearby, detonated while they were playing. Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured minors, who were then admitted to a local hospital. Fortunately, their condition is currently reported to be stable.
Police have clarified that this explosion is not related to the recent unrest in Murshidabad. However, it adds to a growing list of similar incidents reported in both Maldah and Murshidabad districts. Bombs have been found in mango orchards, abandoned schools, and forests, with several incidents of serious injuries, especially to children.
In recent months, there have been multiple reports of injuries caused by hidden or leftover bombs in rural areas. In some cases, children have lost fingers or suffered severe burns. This trend has raised serious questions about illegal bomb-making activities and the lack of proper clean-up of explosive remnants.
Residents of the area are living in fear, especially parents, who now worry about the safety of their children during outdoor play. Many have demanded stricter police surveillance and regular patrolling in vulnerable zones to locate and neutralize any hidden explosives. The police have launched an investigation into the Shamsherganj incident and are trying to determine the source of the bomb. They have also reiterated the need for public awareness and caution in areas where such incidents have occurred before.
